The environmental exploration
The groundwater monitoring is a systematic and long-term process, during which the industrial impact on groundwater is determined. The groundwater monitoring is carried out on the basis of groundwater monitoring program. The program must be prepared, coordinated and carried out in accordance with applicable Lithuanian environmental laws.
The groundwater monitoring is performed 1-2 times per year. The summarized annual research report is submitted to the client, to the Lithuanian Geological Survey and to the Regional Environmental Protection Department.
Typically the groundwater monitoring research must be carried out in places like:
- Mineral water watering-places
- Drinking water watering-places
- Gas stations
- Large industrial companies
- Livestock farms
- Sewage treatment plants
The eco-geological survey. The groundwater and soil chemical – biological contamination are determined during the eco-geological survey. The eco- geological survey report is prepared after field work, laboratory tests and data analysis. In this report we provide information about contaminated zones and layers and also whether the soil and groundwater contamination does not make a threat to the environment and human health.
There are three stages of eco-geological survey.
Preliminary eco-geological survey. These studies reveal primary information about soil and groundwater pollution.
Detailed eco-geological survey. The goal of the detailed eco-geological survey is to reliably identify content of contaminated soil and water, pollution spatial distribution in the soil and to evaluate the potential migration of contaminants . These surveys are carried out when during the preliminary eco-geological survey is determined the fact of pollution.
Additional eco-geological survey. These surveys must be carried out when contaminated area is prepared for a remediation.
The eco-geological survey must be carried out in accordance with applicable Lithuanian environmental laws.
